Having played soccer from the age of five to the end of eight grades, I knew the rules but I clearly needed a bit of a dusting off the shoes. Seeing the kid’s foot skills today, they had a great advantage over me when it came down to playing to day. While brushing up on some of the techniques to controlling the ball, the kids went over a series of drills. Of course all the kids had a dreaded look on their face when we said we were going to go over drills before we were going to play.
We went over drilling the ball down the field, stopping the ball with a toe touch, and controlling the ball with their body while in the air. After the series of drills the kids were happy to be playing futsal. Futsal is very similar to soccer in that futsal is played on a small court/field and there are more touches in the game of futsal. Foot skills are very, very important.
Today was definitely a great day to learn more about futsal. For futsal rules you can find them on the Projects Page under Futsal Rules.
